Fescue Grass Lawn Fertilizer Schedule for Minnesota City, MN

Fertilizer Schedule

This Fescue grass fertilizer plan is based on four applications per year, from Spring through Fall.

The mid Summer applications should only be done if your lawn is properly irrigated.

The dates listed below are based on average historic temperatures in your area. These should only be used as a guideline, and your specific weather forecasts should be used to determine actual dates.

Spring (March, April, May)

Ideally your first spring application would happen when the average nightly temperature is above 60 degrees. However, we don't have any weather records for Minnesota City, MN that meet this criteria.

Summer (June, July, August)

  • June 3 — Apply 0.75lbs of nitrogen per 1000 square feet of grass.
  • July 21 — Apply 0.75lbs of nitrogen per 1000 square feet of grass.

  • October 25 — Apply 0.75lbs of nitrogen per 1000 square feet of grass.

Winter (December, January, February)

Do not apply fertilizer to Fescue grass during the Winter months as it can promote growth that only gets damaged by the next cold snap, causing more harm than good.
